A common way to test adhesion properties is to carry out lap shear tests. This destructive test is used to tear substrates apart and get to know more about their bonding strength. The above photo was taken while testing PVC bonded with our Methyl Meth Acrylate 6207W which resulted in a substrate failure.
At Riëd this is one of the many methods used to test the adhesives during product development. It also occurs that we do lap shear tests on a specific substrate provided by a customer. A good deal of information is available on technical data sheets but testing for every application is always recommended. We carry out many different tests on a daily basis in our modern laboratory to support our customers.
